Jayme Models for mylamediyprojects

I've got Jayme Chan modeling for me, waddddup. 

She's wearing two of my completed holiday projects: a black leather raw edge skirt and the other - a dark emerald green corduroy which is obviously black here because… i gave up trying to adjust the contrast and exposure yada yada in order to make it seem as close to reality as possible. So, BLACK IS THE BEST. FOREVER. AND EVER. 

AND EVER. 

I had such a wonderful day catching up with Jayme, and sipping on our one-for-one Starbucks Christmas frappes. I love university holidays- i wake up feeling bored and we roam about from shop to shop because we have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO!!!!!! NO USELESS BOOK REVIEWS!!!! NO HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENTS THAT WE ALL KNOW WILL NEVER BE MARKED!!!! 

Check out her collarbones and enjoy her sunshine smile AND HEY WHY NOT TELL ME IF YOU WANNA BUY MY SKIRTS, fund the struggling artist? ^^ (Okay, so it's phone bills we are talking about here. Nothing glamorous like a Struggling Artist with capital S and A. Mehhh.)

Photoshoot with NüYou Magazine

Did a photo-shoot/ feature story with NüYou Magazine last friday and it was all fun meeting new people and having wind~in~my~hair~ ;) And i did the interview in Chinese! I was sharing with the writer how my goal was always to be able to speak chinese like i can't speak english, and to speak english like i can't speak chinese ahha. No, really, Diana Ser is my role model! 

It is quite amazing actually how the writer, Pei Mei, and i hit it off almost immediately. The interview felt more like a girly heart-to-heart talk than a... right, interview. But truthfullyyyyyyy................................ i just get highly excited when people are paying full attention to my stories hahahahaha with my hands flailing around no less. 

Anyway do grab a copy of the August issue when its out! Doesn't matter if you can't read chinese, magazines are beautiful for the fact that it requires the flipping of pages. (Sometimes i really wonder if anyone gets what I'm talking about, but its all fine) And the glossy pictures! Breathe, editorial. Words! Words! Words!  

Took a photo with Nicol in the lift at SPH and the sweet writer from Seventeen mag, Benita/ new friend that he introduced to me was wondering out loud why the lift of all locations. And to this which Nicol promptly replied: 

"The lift is where things happen."

April's issue of Elle 

For the strangest reasons that i could never fathom, i just could not lay my hands on any copy of Elle April Issue this year (saved for a really crumpled one at a random newsstand). Had my hopes high on getting it in NYC but nope, zilch. It was just snapped up everywhere! BOTH cover copies (MK & Ashley on one cover each). I even tried amazon, ebay etc... 

Had given up hope on this until............. my ex junior college classmates and i walked into PS cafe at Paragon this evening and there it was hanging on the wall for everyone's reading pleasure! 

After convincing my well-intentioned friends that I'm going to ask for it instead of shoving it into my bag and giving my best puppy-eye look, the wonderful people at PS cafe gave it to me! (It didn't matter anymore that it was rumpled i just wanted to read the beautiful words) 

Maybe it was the company i had tonight, or maybe it was the fact that i had asked for it blatantly AND gotten it, but whatever the case was, 

THIS MADE ME REALLY HAPPY. 

Vivienne Westwood Showcase + Party

Went for the Vivienne Westwood Showcase + Party at Shaw a few weeks ago with the invitation from Nicol since he is pretty much going under "media", covering the event for his editor; we are nearing our dreams! Nearing!!! (All right, Nicol is living it already, occasionally whatsapping me with behind-the-scene photos~!) 

Highlights of the collection were the galaxy printed accessories and jelly hearts sling-backs which are really too cute. Which, is also a tough matter of weaving it into everyday wear considering my wardrobe... but then again, not that i own a pair so oh well. & i obviously could not stop staring at the Stockholm-Streetstyle-worthy-person/ editor/ living portrait. 

I love it when we meet up and roam around Kinokuniya's fashion section poring over every magazine. Spending at least a good half hour standing in one single spot pointing, yakking, commenting away before walking around town almost aimlessly. Recently i met up with him again for the same activity and to give him the Fashion Ave sign i got for him while i was in New York! 

Evia owns the funkiest items, i declare.

Topshop 5000

Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge

Last November, a stack of vouchers for the retails stores under Wingtai Holdings came through the mail. They consist of five 50% off second item, and another three 50% off the item itself, and the first 10 persons who use them up gets 10,000 Fashion Fast Forward member points, and the next 30 in line gets 5000 points each (worth $200++!!).

Being the analytical self, I asked Snail if she received the vouchers too and explained to her how we should totally do this and the feasibility of it happening (ie. we CAN fight against the rest of Singapore). So we did! On the day this promotion started we were at Ion Orchard at 10am, and just one sweet week before A levels started.

I swear we surveyed our environment and competitors and was so certain we were getting the $400+++ worth credits but WE CAME IN 15TH & 16TH SOBZZZZZZ. But nonetheless this 5000 points served, and is serving us well and we get to buy things every now and then for free~ i still have about $110 with them hehehe and it feels so good to walk into a shop knowing that i can get something without having to pay!

Best moment came that day when i was caught in such a dilemma whether to buy this beautiful pearly-gold dress for $79, when i finally decided to part with the money, the cashier reminded me that i had vouchers!! "You have so many points in here anyway," THAT ELATION. Thus from now on i try to deliberately "forget" i have vouchers so that i get double the unexpected joy hahahahahahaha this post is completely shallow and dumb thank you for your time!! ^^

Topshop Topman A/W'11 Fashion Showcase

Lots of people-watching while sipping coke from glasses and placing them randomly before even finishing half of it. Wore a Topshop (why, of course) lycra dress with nude wedges that i successfully took a bus home in without being a hazard to anyone/myself (!!) Nicol being the best choice of person to invite along with, our passion and dream of working in this industry burning strong~ Half the time ranting to each other about how undeserving (based solely on dressing + social behavior) those people at the front row look while starving young dream chasers like us ninja our way around to get the best spot. But it won't be long before we work our way there, watch us ;) And i won't forget tonight, for when you give the person what he works for, he will make sure he be the most deserving one.

Note to self: get those amazing light-reflecting stockings that will create an illusion making my legs lose about 3 inches in width each, visually. & that knit top with the adorable ribbon at the nape.

Party Bag contents: a pair of topman sunglasses (that happen to be unisex or something?) comes with a pouch that differs in design for everyone!! Nicol got some cool tie dye galaxy wash whoop whoop. + a pretty cool beaded purse worth 15pounds whoop whoop whoop.

The male models are all soooooo tall and i look sheepishly happy???? HEHE. Oh gosh i feel so brazen........
